All the winning pupils received a goody bag of fairtrade products including fruit, chocolate, fruit juice, biscuits, muffins and hot chocolate drink. Even the bag itself was made of fairtrade cotton.

Michael said he was looking forward to trying all the nice things and would let Didcot Fairtrade Group know which was his favourite!

Diamond joins funders and board (28.04.08)
We are delighted to announce that Gerd Materlik will join the Board of Directors after Diamond Light Source agreed to become one of Didcot First's funders for 2008. This world-leading company joins other top UK companies in promoting Didcot as a positive place to live, work and invest.

Didcot – a major science hub for Europe (28.04.08)
Didcot First's board of directors has agreed further development of a new strategy for bringing together all aspects of Didcot's community around the common theme of science. The town is virtually unique in the UK in that it is surrounded by world-class science and technology companies on its doorstep, at Harwell, Culham and Milton Park. Didcot First aims to unite the science heritage with modern companies and future dreams, in order to link the town (hundreds of whose inhabitants work within these companies) with all aspects of this theme. Science fits very easily within the new branding that the district council have created for the town ('Didcot is brilliant...') and we aim to organise events, bring in speakers, encourage cultural events around a science theme (sci-fi season at the cinema or arts centre?) as well as setting up science clubs for all ages.
