







Aims & Objectives
1. To drive the big vision...
by pursuing our Vision Statement.
2. To be a voice for Didcot’s community
by using local experience, knowledge, skills & contacts;
by being in touch and providing a point of contact for all our
community;
by providing a non-political/unbiased vehicle for consultation
& dissemination at all levels;
by employing local, skilled, passionate, committed staff with
local contacts;
by creating a stable force in a time of political uncertainty.
3. To challenge negativity
by fighting prejudice at all levels;
by generating a positive image through public campaigning;
by feeding positive stories to the press.
4. To facilitate a change of image
by promoting Didcot locally/nationally/ internationally;
by building on Didcot's industrial heritage & future
scientific/technology base, to create a 21st Century image
(in contrast to the surrounding market towns, thus bringing
diversity to South Oxfordshire);
by providing a positive brand;
by providing workshop facilitation for community & other
groups re. self-perception.
5. To embrace and enhance cultural diversity
by encouraging wide ranging activities within different
sporting and artistic fields;
by celebrating diversity & welcoming a multi-cultural mix.
6. To be a catalyst between agencies on all levels
by proactively developing relationships & links between
agencies who wouldn't/don't normally talk to each other;
by being a publicity machine for voluntary/community agencies
7. To encourage cohesion by holding events for key people/organisations
by holding blue-sky thinking sessions for "movers & shakers",
designed to be a catalyst for action;
by engaging Stakeholders through creating a network of
contacts, who will convene for time-limited projects.
8. To create/appoint volunteer champions to further the cause of Didcot
First by using current networks to identify individuals within
the community who will enhance the work of Didcot First by

9. To obtain funding
by sourcing finance from business, grants, subscriptions, etc;
by actively seeking grants for distribution to smaller groups
for positive self-promotion.
